Blazers vs. Kings

Last Monday I got to go see Jimmer play.  Oh yeah!  I'm surprised how much he gets to play being a rookie.  And he didn't disappoint either.  Dropped an amazing 3 pointer.  Unfortunately I missed the first half of the game due to a late night interprofessional class that only happens like 3 times the whole semester.  As luck would have it, of course it was on the same night.  Turns out one of the other guys in my group decided to skip class and go to the game instead (photo below is compliments of him).  I should have done the same.  I met up with some friends and got a full 2 quarters in though.  So worth it.  Cheering strategy = cheer for the Blazers AND Jimmer.

I MISS BASKETBALL SO MUCH.  I miss playing it and I especially miss coaching it.  My girls actually have 8 wins this season!  Really wish I could go see them play.....    P.S.  The Blazers won

Project Homeless Connect

On Friday my PA program got to be involved in what's called Project Homeless Connect.  Oregon has the highest number of homeless people in the whole United States and it's very evident here in Portland.  So Washington County puts together this day once a year to take care of the homeless.  They can come get breakfast, get their teeth cleaned, visit a doctor, take a shower, get new clothes & blankets, get help with finding somewhere to live, get flu shots, and the list goes on.

As PA's, we were teamed with dental.  We saw each patient to get their past medical histories, take vitals (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, glucose), and listen for heart murmurs.  It was great fun.  Especially since I got to wear this guy:  All my classmates sent the spanish-speakers to me.  How I loved it!!

Santa! I know him!

Christmas is over, yes.  But the holiday spirit continues to live on.  Especially with the four days of intense snow we've gotten here in Portland this week.  Perfect weather for another visit from Santa.
Before Christmas, my interprofessional team from school (made up of pharmacists, physical therapists, a psychologist, and a PA - me) did our required service activity by helping out at a holiday bazaar.  It's all the rage here in Portland.  People set up their booths and sell their handmade goodies in preparation for Christmas.  Ours even had a little visit from Santa.  We couldn't pass up an opportunity to sit on his lap and put in our requests!

And they say it never snows in Portland.

Well, look what I woke up to this morning.  And you can't tell, but it actually WAS snowing!
