Basketball Preview

Well I went straight into basketball from volleyball..........no break. We are now 3 and 1/2 weeks in and we are looking pretty good. I was actually really surprised to see the girls from the team last year - they have some mad skills!! They must have actually learned something last year :) We made huge strides last year and I'm expecting the same this year.

Except I've been extremely frustrated thus far. I've already had 4 girls quit on me in the last 2 weeks. Man, am I really that tough? :) No, some situations have come up that merit immediate attention that wouldn't be very likely if they continued with the team. BUT on the other hand, they could do it if they wanted to. They're just not dedicated. That's a struggle with these students at a charter school. A lot of them have never played sports before so they don't know how it works. Well, I'll tell you what! I'll change that right away! I'm mostly upset about my star senior post player. We were going to be AMAZING with her........Now, it's going to take a lot of work but we can still do it.

So I went from 20 girls to 16 for two teams. I'm going to play about five girls on both teams. Good news for them! :) No, but I expect our season to be a lot more successful than our volleyball season. Our region will still be tough but these girls are some real ballers. Our first game isn't until December 11th. I'll keep you posted!

Weekend in AZ

Well, instead of going home to AZ for Thanksgiving this year we all went home 3 weekends ago for Elise & Erik's Open House there. It was just a quick trip. Flew home Thursday night and back Sunday night. It was so fun to go home, I hadn't been since April. Sonya and I ate at the best Mexican restaurant in town with real BURROS.....La Casita....delicioso!

It was a warm weekend and most of the time was spent getting everything together and decorated for the reception. It was a lot of fun to see pretty much the whole town. There was a good turn out so it was nice to catch up with everyone.

So the Gila Valley Temple is moving right along.....right in my home town :) It's gorgeous eh? Kind seems like it doesn't fit in, right off the highway and right next to the railroad tracks.

Photobucket

I love it though. Only in a small town would you see a picture like this.......barbed wire & horses. Haha! I'm excited for the dedication and to actually go through it.

Gotta love Mt. Graham & the cotton fields!!

To State!!!

My volleyball team got to go to State this year, our first year in the UHSAA 2A State Tournament. Yeah! Our season ended 1 - 10, but in my defense we had the hardest region in the state. 3 of the other 5 teams took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the State Tournament. They played hard and they really progressed throughout the season. My best player is unfortunately graduating this year. She was a fantastic player & a great leader.

Our State Tournament was at UVU with 4 courts set up all at the same time. I think my girls got a little intimidated. They've never played any where close to that. Shoot, we don't even have our own gym yet! It was great experience for them for next year though. We lost our first game then we almost won our second game, in fact we totally could have! That was the frustrating part. They have had communication & hesitation issues all season and we've worked on it so much. Anyway, I'm happy with our progress (we closed the gap, point-wise, every time we played the same team) and glad we got to go to State. It was a good season. You can see me here at the State Tournament tossing the balls for warm-up :)

1st Annual Anderson Halloween Party

This year I put together a little party for us kids. We had a little costume contest. Who do you think won? Ah come on, it's easy!! My costume pretty much rocks it! A creepy track coach. Haha! Snowb inspired me, cause she's creepy :) j/k

Then we did a little pumpkin carving. That was slimy fun. I put a cool stache on mine to match me. Dexter's is ingenious, Lisi's & Artisto's is well, amazing and Snowb's is HUGE!

We unfortunately didn't have any candles to put inside them, so we improvised with some left over sparklers from the Fourth of July. I'm tellin ya what?!! That was the best idea EVER! It was so cool. We'll be doing that every year from now on.

Plus we had a little fun with 'em as well :)

We took some other HILARIOUS pictures with my goofy goggles, but Snowb would KILL me if I posted them! Ha, oh well, I don't care! Take a gander.......Oh man, it's too much!!

We had such a riot that night. I LOVE getting together with my siblings. We have so much fun together. Love you guys!

Hallowen Fun

So I've always wanted to go to the famous Cornbelly's mostly because my sister Snowb always talks about it. So my roommates and I all got together and went on a group date. They have a giant corn maze and then lots of other little activities and games like the picture shows

Photobucket

It's a great time. Here's some pictures of us on the Jumping Pillow and at the end of the maze - longest one ever! Haha!

A week or so later we went to the pumpkin patch to pick a few pumpkins both for carving and for making dinner in a pumpkin, made by my roommate Allison. Dee-liscious! We look pretty funny in this picture....on the move!

Mr. & Mrs. Loño

Believe it or not Elise & Erik (click for pictures) are now married - for a month now! Wahoo!! They got married Oct. 10 and it was a wonderful day. Family and friends were in attendance from all over and it was a nice chance to catch up and see loved ones again. It was nice to just finally enjoy all the wedding stuff and not stress about all the little details. I didn't even help that much, but just hearing about it was enough :) Elisey looked gorgeous and Erik as handsome as ever!

I LOVE this picture!!

What do you think? Do I look like my Aunt or Uncle at all?

So funny story. On the way to the luncheon after the wedding, my Dad and I was following Snowb in her Rodeo on the freeway. Well, she had a pretty low tire and I could see it just getting lower & lower. She was in the far left lane going pretty fast so I told my Dad to call her and tell her to get to the right lane asap and slow down. Well just as she got there, her tire started smoking and then it blew! Here's the proof.... My dad in his brand new suit and Sonya in her heels. Needless to say we were a little late to the luncheon. Oops.
The reception was at Highland Gardens such a cool place, filled with loads of people and loads of fun. Got to see old family friends and eat good treats! Erik's sister made the cake, beautiful eh? The spongy one on the left is a groom's cake.
The time came for the throwing of the bouquet (stampede of females) and there was some tough competition! Elise's friends and current students as well as us sisters. Who was going to catch it?! I decided to put my game face on and catch it regardless of the outcome to the others :) aka getting hurt. Craziness I tell you.

And the lucky winner is.........!!This was probably one of the most amazing receptions I've been to and I'm not just being biased because it was my sister's. To end, Lisi and her old ward members performed Thriller for old times sake as well as had little dance party to celebrate.

And of course we had to decorate the car :) Nothing too drastic..... We are talking about high class people here......haha
