The process is finally wrapping up. I have done all of my PA school interviews, 5 total, over the last several months. It's nice to finally take a breather and take a break. This is the first weekend besides Thanksgiving that I haven't been traveling. So here's where it stands:
Quinnipiac University, Connecticut - accepted
Pacific University, Oregon - #11 on the waitlist
George Washington, DC - still waiting to hear...
University of Washington - on the hold list
University of Utah - rejected
I'm thinking I want to go into either surgery or emergency medicine, but won't know for sure until I start doing rotations. My top three choices are the top three listed above. This is a difficult decision as there are different things I like about each university. I guess the only option I have right now is Quinnipiac. I'll worry about the others if they become an option.
Quinnipiac University
Like: ranked #14, brand new facility, other focuses besides primary care, almost 100% PANCE pass rate, over 90% of graduates got the job they wanted, service component, highly structured curriculum
Dislike: geographic location (rural area), longer in-class hours, local rotations
Pacific University
Like: brand new facility, international rotations, country-wide rotations, modular curriculum, mentor program, current students, geographic location (love Portland!)
Dislike: ranked #53, lower PANCE pass rate, desks
George Washington
Like: ranked #4, 100% PANCE pass rate, shorter in-class hours, service component, current students, geographic location (love DC!)
Dislike: curriculum setup, no windows, not enough time in class
University of Washington
Like: ranked #7, current students, geographic location (love Seattle!)
Dislike: too much focus on primary care, military focused, was not shown campus
Thoughts??
